Scilla
Scilla is one of the most picturesque town on the Tyrrhenian coast of Calabria. Fishing is the most practiced by the locals, especially the swordfish.
A spur of rock overlooking the Tyrrhenian Scilla divided into two main areas: Marina Grande, which sees the Baroque facade of the Church of the Holy Spirit, is the tourist part, full of restaurants and accommodations for overnight and Chianalea, lying on the sea, ancient and picturesque fishing village features houses joined together by arches and corridors, where they often live with the waves of the sea, because the walls are planted in the water, almost as if they were to be swallowed by the sea. On top of the thirteenth-century cliff, overlooking the bays of Marina Grande and Chianalea, stands the castle of the Ruffo, built in the sixteenth century by the House of Ruffo, today in the forms of baronial palace used as hostels for youth and lighthouse. Not far away is the Church of the Immaculate Conception, built in medieval times, remains in important works, among them the marble statue depicting the so-called Madonna of the Immaculate Conception of the Gate, the bust of St. Peter attributed to a follower of Bernini, the Pity Giacinto Diano, and many other important works. In the area there are the caves karst Trèmusa from which flows the source of Paul King, whose waters are indicated for the treatment of kidney diseases. We live in a very special atmosphere of calm days and memories of the mythical legends lead us to seek the nymphs sorceresses, who voices resurface the cliffs overlooking the sea.
The village of Favazzina, is part of the town of Scilla, is placed in a panoramic position overlooking the Costa Viola. Here grow the lemon "verdello" and "uva zibibbo".
